I think the full WYSIWYG is still needed. Although there are related plug-ins, the functions are not complete.
It is a fair point. And while everyone mentions there are a fair number of plugins released over the years, I don’t believe that any of them are currently working with the latest versions.

I have mentioned this quite a few times. For Japanese and Chinese (and possibly Korean not 100% sure), you cannot use any inline Textile, such as _em_, *strong*, links, etc. Reason: Textile needs spaces before/after the markup. There is none in CJK.
Where is that emoji for a solar powered submarine when you need it ?

Not quite true:
对于使用中文的普通用户，使用[_Textile_]编辑文章比较困难。The square-bracket syntax isolates the Textile, but it is more characters to type, so admittedly not ideal.

That works for some tags, but still breaks for links, possibly because there is not really a closing symbol (just before the the closing ]).
