can't change default section to default page

That is because you are previewing your site with a new (?) theme.

Go to Presentation>Themes and click to preview your default theme.

If you have only one theme, you should probably select default page when changing.

i checked all and selected all to default and then it finally changed default section to default page

Unless asked explicitly, txp will not change Page and Style when you change a Theme. Is this a wrong behaviour?

i changed page. obviously i didn’t change style…

Yes, you have to change both Page and Style, since each Theme combines both elements. We can’t just say ‘leave it as it was’ because your new theme might not have that asset. e.g. Theme 1 could have only one Style called ‘black’ and Theme 2 could have only one called ‘white’.
