[Forum] Redirect from .io to .com not working

I’ve still two bookmarks to the forum when it was on .io, which don’t work any longer. The first time I remarked this was today, at around CEST 01.30. This is observed from Android, can’t currently test desktop. Sorry for any annoyance caused by my lack of smart thinking.

Re: [Forum] Redirect from .io to .com not working

You are not alone in this. My feed reader got angry at TXP forum the other day as it could not find the feed anymore. If my memory serves me, that was last Thursday (08/15, JST).

BTW – the feed should use a Permanently Moved redirect, my feed reader would automagically updated the URL it uses

Re: [Forum] Redirect from .io to .com not working

I’ll investigate – I haven’t changed anything.

Edit: this should now be fixed, please test and report back when you can.

Evidently I had changed something, but missed something else (now fixed) so the server block priority order firing wasn’t correct.

I’ve just updated the .io redirects to permanent (see here for specifics), I vaguely recall there was a problem some time last year when the forum was being dry-run migrated, and this was a bodge that fixed it. I’d be interested to hear if that fixes your redirect issue, or whether it needs more investigation.

The redirect works for me. Thanks Pete!

Re: [Forum] Redirect from .io to .com not working

The redirect itself works fine, as far as I can see. Thanks.

Hmm, I wonder how / if I can if the feed reader automatically changes the URL.I already manually updated the URL after noticing the error a few days ago.

No idea whether this can be falsified by caching services somehow, so just for completeness’ sake: Works for me, too. Thanks, Pete!

For info – when I need a cache-proof browser, I use Tor. Some of its script-blocking tools interfere with ‘normal’ operations, but for quickly busting a cache, I have yet to find a better tool.
