Hi, guys, I have a few suggestions.
Hi, guys, I have a few suggestions.
In the admin settings:
Can the path setting be modified to a relative path?
E.g. File directory path / Temporary directory path
There are also many absolute path displays in the diagnostic information.

I’m revisiting this thread because of a spam post which is now deleted.
I’m wondering if a relative path would be prudent for the temp and the plugin cache directories as it is highly advisable to have them below the root of the domain and I do not know if ../../../temp
would work.

We ought to be able to specify both absolute and relative paths, for convenience. But we’d probably be better off converting them to absolute paths on save. Not sure of the merits of either from a security standpoint (or if it even makes a difference).

Hi Stef,
Glad you joined the conversation.
One issue is the images directory which should preferably reside in a subdomain outside an https domain. I know that there are workarounds for that but it would be good to have that choice scripted in the core.

Images are going to be looked at in earnest in 4.8 so if we can make things easier for people to manage images outside of the base install (without having to resort to multi-site) then we’ll see what can be done. I’ll add it to my planning doc.
