Locked out of textpattern admin
I have been recently locked out of one of my textpattern installs. I have it installed in four directories on my site, and one one them just stopped working suddenly.
I have been getting TONS of spam there, and now I can’t log-in to correct the problem. I know the user name and password are correct because I use the same one for each of my textpattern installs. It has always worked in the past.
So, is there any way to recover the password, or re-set it somehow? I think it may be a database issue… I checked there and the user name is displayed in the database, and the password is an encrypeted key. Is there maybe anyway to decipher this or correct a corruped key??
Hope that makes some sense.

If you have access to your database, just;
- select user #1. in your txp_users table
- type a new password into the field
- choose password from the select to the left of it.
That should do it.

Got it!
I had tried changing it that way a few times before, though I wasn’t selecting the password box from the drop-down menu.

Zem mentioned in the past that the password input using this method had to be all lower case. Don’t know if that still holds true, but keep it in mind if something doesn’t work.

Goodness, in 2018 this still seems to work after updating from 4.0.5 to 4.7.1.

Yep. Even if you set an ‘old’ style password directly in the db, we detect this and update it to the newer security methods on login. All part of the service :-)
