[SOLVED] Moving to https

It’s late for me and I’m sure I can’t do this while I’m tired, but the domain resolves just fine when explicitly Secure, https but with Textpattern, puts the visitor to Unsecure http://

I got my SSL-to-site connection figured out today. The site was installed weeks ago. It’s almost a How except I’ve seen some posts where trouble comes from the shift so I’m posting in Troubleshooting ahead of time!

I need to get Textpattern on board with the Secure links. Where does that take place? What changes in what files?

Re: [SOLVED] Moving to https

I’m having trouble following your situation, exactly, but it sounds like you might need rules in your .htaccess file to redirect calls to http to https. And/or, depending on host, you may need to create a C-name record for the ‘www’ domains.

Setting up ssl on WebFaction, for example, involves all of this stuff.

None of that speaks to local development, however, which is a different config I’ve never bothered to try.

Check out this thread: http to https in textpattern – especially Jakob’s comment and my .htaccess file that includes his suggestions.

Slow and steady did it! We are secure. Getting help from Jakob feels like cheating, doesn’t it?

I’ll pick through as he said and make sure explicit http mentions are changed (I used some for oui_audio I think) but the site seems to not complain.

I hadn’t seen your thread in the Search results; thank you.

I tend to think of it as levelling up.

Gulp, I didn’t realise I came across like that. My hope is that my help is a leg-up or the ability to stand on someone else’s shoulders. Just mind your footing; I make mistakes too.

You do. You enable learning, I’ve (indirectly and directly) learned huge amounts from reading your posts over the past 13+ years.
