Vivaldi browser
I was asking around in masto about a browser extension that would stack browser tabs, and someone pointed me to Vivaldi, which does this nice feature natively. Since then I’ve been giving Vivaldi a run and I really like it so far. Standards support seems pretty good so far, though I’m not giving it any hard acid tests or anything.
It’s headquartered in Norway, with a major office in Iceland, so I really like that. Outweighs the third office in Massachusetts. ;)
And the company is employee owned (a co-op, I presume), and, as they say, ‘always will be’, and I really like that.
Anyway, in case you haven’t tried it, check it out. I like it better than Brave, and I needed a second browser to FF instead of Safari and the other usual B.S.
But the tab stacking, though. ?

Not bad, just browsing with it now, thanks for the tip. And it even has a web inspector.

It is basically a Chromium browser with another lick of paint. Part of their team are old hands from Opera.
Where is that emoji for a solar powered submarine when you need it ?

A lot of the coders on YouTube go back and forth between Atom.io and Visual Studio Code. Now both of them are going to be owned by Microsoft.

Yes, and they are both built with Electron.js. Atom runs really badly on my four year old Mac – I have tried to love it and use it but I just can’t bear the sluggishness and bugs. GitHub Desktop was a lot better performance-wise when it was a native Mac app too.

Since I started dual-booting my PC between Ubuntu and Windows (for gaming), I use both. VS Code loads much faster; Atom has the better extensions but takes forever to start; once it is up and running, though, it runs fine.

I still get by with 8GB. I was telling someone the other day about my first actual PC in 1991 – it came up with 1 MB of onboard memory and 4 slots of 256KB. Later on, I got 4 2MB DIMMs and got it up to 9MB. It seemed blazing fast.

When I said PC, I meant my first IBM PC Clone running DOS… and Windows 3.1.
My first computer was also a VIC-20, Christmas of 1982. Then later I moved up to a Commodore 64 and then a 128 that I had for about 6 years until I got the above.
