Re: Theme list

Hi dima,

Themes will be supported as from txp4.7, currently on beta3 page. We hope that the community will be offering a lot of them in the next few months.

Re: Theme list

I hope new themes will appear faster than I switch to other CMS. I have no time. Sorry.

Re: Theme list

It’s new and coming up so will take some time to become established. I’d hazard a guess it won’t ever be like Wordpress, though.

But … you could contribute yourself right now by making a theme of your own :-)

Re: Theme list

Have no time to develop something. I’ve seen before some themes, they are fine.

Re: Theme list

With Textpattern as your CMS you can use literally any HTML themes you find on the web, free ones or those for a small fee. TXP tags fit in these like hands in a glove and make them flexible and versatile. And it’s fun watching your website’s new, flat, dress come to life while putting tags in, one by one. If you need help, just ask.

Re: Theme list

I am wondering, if people start making themes to sell, how are they going to copyprotect them?

As someone who started out with computers in the days of Commodore 64 copy protection, I hope everyone relies on the good will of the community.

I’ve started a half dozen or more themes for Textpattern but never actually released one because I never quite got it finished to my satisfaction. I am hoping that will finally change now that we have actual support. I plan to put anything I am going to release up on Github.

But you can still charge for themes that you release in an open-source capacity – as WordPress does.

I have bought designs from ThemeForest like Polo and Springdale and I would never repackage those.

Re: Theme list

Thanks, Michael. I agree on the goodwill.
Really it would be lovely to have some high end designed themes around, even for cash, like in Wordpress.
It’s (edit: guessing, would be) so much simpler to convince a client of Textpattern, when you switch designs in front of their eyes while they realize, they can do all this themselves later on.
