website.informer links on main site

Wondering what the function/value of those ‘Featured at:’ links are, ‘powered by website.informer.com’ in the main site.

I clicked three links randomly and got the following results:

  • linuxinsider.com -> An article from 2007 talking about 4.07.
  • macnewsworld.com -> A security warning saying the site is configured incorrectly.
  • kilianmuster.com -> A 404 error

I stopped giving ad clicks after that. It’s not a pretty or useful feature to visitors by any obvious measure.

Hi Destry,

I commended about this one before. It is there to provide a slight income for the domain costs.

Yes, it’s a paid-for item.

Re: website.informer links on main site

So we should all just go click-hog-wild, then. Or will that raise eyebrows?

Wait, you mean you are paying for that? Or they are paying you to display it?

Re: website.informer links on main site

The pay us to have it on the site. I think it simply uses out Alexa ranking to give webinformer some extra link weight. It’s something Robert handles, along with the ad links in the forum topic list, and provides a small trickle of money to us.

That was kind of my point (of irony). Is he really our Robert anymore? I haven’t seen him around in a while, which makes me wonder if he quietly initiated Operation Exit Plan from TT. He might just be an honorary old spirit blowing through the willows at this point. (Which is how I feel most of the time in actual life, minus the honorary.)

Nothing sinister. Nothing to do with Txp. Lost in translation, maybe.

I’m just saying I often feel like an old soul. Always have. Nothing honorary about old souls. They just are.
