Search broken if result page is not using the default section

Something something someone broke my search. For a very long time I have used a search section to display search results (example here – that dates back to TXP 1.0). This now fails and returns no results. This changed in last couple of weeks (maybe 2?). I found this today while preparing to update another site.

The search widget I use(d) for this – the search result page use code very similar to what ships with the default TXP theme:

<form action="<txp:site_url />search/" method="get" class="search-form" id="search-form" role="search">

I’ve now changed my templates to use the default section instead of a dedicated section (updated templates and forms to match – sigh… labyrinth)

<form action="<txp:site_url />" method="get" class="search-form" id="search-form" role="search">

That restores the search functionality. Is this a bug or did I miss a memo somewhere?

Re: Search broken if result page is not using the default section

Hmmm, thanks for the report. It’s supposed to let you put results anywhere you like, in the same way you should be able to direct category, author, image and file lists to any Section/Page. I wonder if the tweaks or enhancements or alterations in the last couple of weeks broke something? Any clues, Oleg?

If it helps, it certainly worked up till April 20 late afternoon local time (breakfast time in the western EU); that is when I last modified a certain article and used search on the front-end.
