Drag'n'drop images upload already integrated

I’m on a pretty aged MacOS (10.8) that forces me to use quite old browsers, e.g. FF 45. I’ve just noticed that—already under these conditions—I can drop-upload images (plural) if I let them go onto the input for images uploading in the Images panel.

  • Is that already known?
  • Does it work on other OSs and browsers other than FF and Chrome/ium?
  • Would it be possible to use that to our advantage, e.g. by widening the input via CSS, e.g. adding a second input stretched to the header area’s dimensions?

Yes. It’s a feature of 4.7.0.

The input field is the browser specific one. And we have added the ability to upload all files to a category. Not sure what else we can do.

Oh, didn’t specify my TXP version: I was on 4.6.2. And it worked already on at least 4.5.7. I just forgot to post about it at the time I discovered that feature.

Not sure what else we can do.

I thought of making the drag’ndrop area greater/wider so it’s easier to hit it, and and advertise it a little more, renaming it accordingly, style it with a dotted border, background colour, so its dragndrop capability is not as easy overlooked.

It is a feature of the macOS native file upload widget. I never managed to have drag & drop working on Windows (10). But that might be me, though, or that cheapo laptop I have.

Re: Drag'n'drop images upload already integrated

I’ve almost expect that, hence I asked for other OSs/browsers.

The images and files panels are something I want to look at more closely in 4.8. Also, image grid layout (long planned).

Drag/drop on file inputs is a browsers feature, yes, but multiple images/files upload is available only since 4.7. And IIRC, sandSpace theme features also previews/title inputs.

Yes, you’re right. Must’ve been hopping too much from version to version this afternoon.
