Respublika!
The Respublika! site is a hack of our main site on www.neme.org from which I recycled the css, within which there are still ids specific to that. The templates (pages and forms) are different and when I get some time I’ll post them on github. The search is still buggy and the content is not all there yet. It is nevertheless ready enough to release to the wild as the events for this major project of ours started already.
plugins used:
- com_connect-4.6.0-beta,
- act_if_mobile-0.1.2,
- mdn_count-1.4,
- rvm_privileged-0.5,
- smd_wrap-0.20,
- smd_if-1.0.0,
- rvm_css-1.1,
- spf_js-0.51,
- smd_macro-0.41,
- smd_where_used-0.2,
- smd_user_manager-0.21
If anybody is in our area, please do drop in. All events are free.

Hmmm is it that unsightly?
You can be brutal. I can take it!

Re: Respublika!
First impressions: It’s not unsightly but not stunningly attractive either, even though you have many attractive images on there. For me, the text is too small and not easy to read, but probably artist’s eyes are much better than mine. The text is very interesting but the amount of text puts me off a bit. I think I’m expecting a more image-biased site, but I’m a casual visitor not a dedicated artist, which seems to me to be the audience you’re catering to. When I get time I will read more. From what I’ve read so far, I can see it needs some time setting aside to appreciate properly. Everything seems to function OK by the way

Re: Respublika!
It could look a bit younger with these styles in place:
#nav {
background: #990000 none repeat scroll 0 0 !important;
}/* Remove gradient, red tones mixed (makes a tad lighter red) */
#header {
background-color: #ffffff !important;
}/* Remove one more gradient */
a {
color: #cc0000;
}/* a little less loud */
(!important
so you can try in Stylish or similar individual CSS tool.) Then, invert the social link images (to white disks, black logos, transparent backgrounds) and you can finally set the Post-it-like yellow of .announce
to a more neutral white.
And the text would probably benefit of a two-column arrangement.
In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

NeMe clone, lazy old man! ;-) And 4.7 will spare you few plugins.
I had to do it asap so I was cutting corners. Indeed I was lazy as the work load for the rest of the project is just too much. (checkout the festival and the seminars links to get a taste). What we left behind are two major exhibitions.
Looking forward to 4.7. I should find some time to test its beta.

Thanks for taking a look Pete,
The project is curated by an academic so it’s text text and text, something which I am not against as I had enough of looking at pretty images.
the project is basically about participatory democracy so the textual element is very important.

Hi Uli
Lovely!!! I just tested it in ff dev tools. I’ll implement your suggestions to both the sites!!!
