503 on articles when not logged in?

I dunn’o what I did. Now my textpattern install is getting a 503. I can log in, write articles, see them …everything is fine when I am logged in.

When I log out? ~~=-POOF!-=~~ my articles disappear.

Someone must’ve had this happen to them before.

Any love?

which version of txp are you using? Which host?

also while logged into the admin panel are there any errors reported under
Admin > Diagnostics ?

I’m glad it was sorted out but you are using a very old txp version which, when your server upgrades its software, will cease to function. Upgrading to the latest version is strongly recommended. Your plugins will need upgrading (or replaced by others which offer similar functionalities) but I think that you will be able to do it without many problems.

I agree to both. IIRC 4.4.1 had a security problem that had been fixed in subsequent versions.
The only plugin that might break when used in the current TXP 4.6.2 is probably ign_password_protect, but there is a more recent version to try, ign_password_protect.0.6.2. And: Backup your database before you change anything.

Beyond that: Did you (or the person who installed TXP for you) alter the three files mentioned in diagnostics? Else that looks suspicious and should be drilled down on.

What you DIDN’T mention is how my theme will respond to upgrading …

In answer to your question, yes. I’ve been called suspicious before, and I’m fine with that.
