txp 4.6.2 not running on PHP 5.4
I’ve installed textpattern on my server which is running PHP 5.4 version, it’s not running and the following error appear:
Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.Offline

Doesn’t look like a TXP error. Is this on the homepage of the website? Can you reach http://yourdomain.com/textpattern/admin-themes/hive/screenshot.png without an error?

That looks like your server is having traffic or other problems.

when i switch to PHP >5.4 , it will works fine. it means with PHP < 5.4 that error appear.

that could be simply a variable of timing re server load and not a function of the flavour of php version

Maybe try uploading a phpinfo file first and see what it shows you with each PHP setting. If you can call that up and get useful output you can investigate further.
Another idea: check that your paths don’t change when you change PHP versions. I’ve not seen that myself but Redfox had that problem recently, and if the path changes, your domain path may be wrong as a result.
Last question: if it works with PHP >5.4, why don’t you use that?

Go for the highest version of PHP you can, as the caching tools are much faster in newer versions = speedier Textpattern (unless of course you have to use 5.4 for another app).
