Hmm, then something seems to be wrong in the .htaccess file (which isn’t my strong point). Anyone offer up a clue as to what?
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>...
Perhaps change [R=301] to [R=301,L] ?

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
Mixchaels URL
http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=284244#p284244
redirects to
https://forum.textpattern.com/https://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=284244#p284244
and finally to
https://forum.textpattern.com/https:/forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=284244
Final hash removed (Slomo thanks to NoScript)

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
I had problems (404) with forum.textpattern.com/search.php?action=show_24h
Thanks for your work!

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
OK, I’ve done what Ruud suggested. Hope that fixes it for you?
FYI Michael’s link didn’t have a protocol at all in it, which might have been causing a problem? I edited that link to include the http:// and it worked as expected.

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
The problem is reduced, now, to the final #p284244 getting stripped off from the URL.

Can you provide an example (pre-domain move) post in the forum that references another post in the forum, so I can check this problem?

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
I just switched to a different computer. Clicked the forum on the Firefox dashboard. No 404 – took me straight to the topic page.

Not pre domain move. Try Michaels URL.
https://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=304176#p304176
It now goes to
https://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=284244
i.e. the topic, not the post.
Adding #p284244 to the end of that leads to Michaels 2014 post.

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
Found an old post of mine from 2011 – https://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=241846#p241846 – that links to forum threads from 2005 and 2006. Everything seem to be working correctly.

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
@Uli. Not sure I understand. It’s working as expected for me in Safari, Firefox and Chrome…
So if I type the old:
http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=304176#p304176
I get (correctly) redirected to:
https://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=304176#p304176
Maybe empty your cache in case an older .htaccess file from today is being stored.

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
Sorry for the confusion, Phil, all is well.
I saw Michaels post (“switched to a different computer”) and was reminded that it could be caused by third party, browser, my extension set (NoScript, see above) etc.
On a Vanilla FF, the posts’ hashes aren’t removed and the URL in my last example works fine. I carry on testing with that browser.

Re: Forum now HTTPS and on .io domain
I tried with a couple of (oldish) bookmarks pointing to specific posts (not threads) and the redirects worked correctly in all cases.
No other problems to mention, afaict. After fishing my password out of the Keychain, I logged in immediately.
Bonus point, from now on, Safari will automatically fill in my password, no more little popup :-)
