Re: [phw_sandSpace], an admin theme for TXP CMS 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9

Is the problem the overall height of those textareas, or is it one of font-size? Hive uses a smaller font-size, esp. for the code textareas, the overall height is close to similar between the two themes, I think.
(font-size is one of those terrible topics for discussion… me prefers larger – grumpy old man with fading eyes…).

It’s the height of the textareas. I’m on a laptop that has a 1920×1080 resolution, and the textareas in sandspace causes me to have to deal with both the scrollbar in the textarea and the scrollbar in the browser window. On the Write panel it’s ok, it’s an article, but on Pages, Forms and Styles, it’s better if the textarea fits neatly in my browser window.

As for fonts, I’m all for larger fonts, my eyes ain’t what they used to be neither.

At the end of the day, Textpattern is going to need both a Desktop and Mobile admin theme. And that “Save” button causing you to have to scroll down, makes no sense to inconvenience me for the sake of screen readers.

Interesting. The various alpha testers who played around with me all agreed that taller textareas were preferable.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that – both counts.

Tanks for your feedback.

Re: [phw_sandSpace], an admin theme for TXP CMS 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9

Now ready for Textpattern 4.6.1.

Changes, etc:

  • Improved inline grid (smd_admin_themes now displays correctly)
  • Optimised image sprite
  • Improved spacing for small screen devices
  • The main menu now displays a cross mark (indicating ‘close’) when opened on small screen devices
  • Various misc. bug fixes

/*.multi_edit_form {
	position: relative;
	padding-top: 2.7em;
}
.multi_edit_form .multi-edit {
	position: absolute;
	top: 0;
}*/

Your CSS hack here in custom.css don’t work with the 4.6.1 release : articles fields ID and TITLE hidden for screens < 1400px

Uh, indeed. I had completely forgotten about that little hack. In my core stylesheet, the multi-edit widget is now set to position: sticky (for browser that support it). If you want that widget near the top, this will work:

.multi_edit_form {
	position: relative;
	padding-top: 3.7em;
}
.multi_edit_form .multi-edit {
	position: absolute;
	top: 0;
	bottom: auto;
}

Sandspace 4.6.2 update:

  • improved styling for printed media
  • improved all around handling of text-decoration
  • some additional love for text-decoration for East-Asian languages for those browsers that support text-underline-position (uh, that is Safari 10 / MobileSafari 10 atm…)
  • replaced the Jquery-UI progress bar animated image with pure CSS code (the spinner image will be sunsetted in the near future)
  • misc. bug fixes.

Ouch – oversight, will correct that in a moment. Thanks for the report

First alpa-beta-gamma release for TXP 4.7dev. Comments and bug reports welcome.

>> download

(it works with the current state of TXP 4.7-dev. It might be broken in a couple of days, who knows… I will try to keep this up-to-date in a timely manner)

One more update:

+ adjusted the help icon to match the core changes (make sure you upload the SVG images)
+ some refactoring under the hood (there may be some bugs, let me know)
+ tentative support for the iPhone X form factor.

One more update, some more refactoring and bug fixes, including a workaround for the spinner icon that recently landed in core.

Users have also the possibility to specify their own favicon if they want or need. See the Readme for details.

Great stuff! I’m at the initial stages of putting together our long-awaited new themes (public and admin themes) site. When that arrives I’ll give prominent visibly for your admin theme there. Will share more info in a few weeks time.
