Sitemaps – a core feature?
Isn’t sitemap generation kind of required for a successful website by now? They’re used by all search engines and is the preferred way to submit new content to them. I know there are plugins for Textpattern, but shouldn’t feature be considered a core feature by now?

Re: Sitemaps – a core feature?
Sitemap can be generated in different ways – each has its own requirements for it. Plugins allow you to do this with maximum flexibility.
aks_cron : Cron inside Textpattern | aks_article : extended article_custom tag
aks_cache : cache for TxP | aks_dragdrop : Drag&Drop categories (article, link, image, file)

I agree that sites can vary in their setup. rah_sitemap gives you a fair amount of flexibility and on-screen options and is fine for most cases. In more complex cases, I use aks_header to set the correct header type and then code the sitemap output using the regular textpattern tags.
