Re: 4.6 release schedule - request for a beta

If a beta is released, perhaps plugin authors will pay some more attention ?

I reckon there’s plenty of attention but personally I would like a stable (i.e. no more major coding changes) beta before committing serious time to updating plugins. I’m doing investigations but I’d hate for the goalposts to move again – last year I got most of my plugins sorted, but now many of them are broken.

And many of us would be more than happy to test 4.6 in real world scenarios – but not if it’s still in active development. Give us some time with a stable beta.

The devs have done an enormous amount of great work. It’s got to be time to let the beast loose – at the very least, on a long leash.

OK, I’ve landed jQuery UI v1.12 support in the system. I’m happy to go to beta release, I have no blocker issues personally.

re: the beta release

From the Github discussion threads

  1. It sounds like the security bug Wet is working on has an agreed upon solution.
  2. It sounds like Stef would like/it would be easier to refactor the multi-site setup rather than hack a work around on the invalid url. And this issue was marked as low priority.
  • Could the multi-site issue be bumped to 4.7?
  • Could the beta release then proceed?

Re: 4.6 release schedule - request for a beta

I was just coming here to ask what the status of 4.6 was, because it seemed close a few months ago, the way people were talking about it.

Let’s BETA-N-ROLL!

(Btw, I’ve not abandoned user docs; CSF just takes up a lot of my time, necessarily so. When the day comes I can scribble on docs again, I will. That should not stop recruiting other tech writers, however.)

Re: 4.6 release schedule - request for a beta

We are just preparing for the beta over next few days, there’s a bit of preliminary work first as this is our first release via GitHub instead of SVN.
