Extra 4.6 string addition - translations needed

Hi all translators, we had to add one more string to the 4.6 Textpacks, so if you could update languages at the Crowdin app that’d be great.

English example:

locale_not_available_for_language => No locale available for language <strong>{name}</strong>. Using default locale instead.

And also:
comment_duplicate, which is an error message indicating that the comment was rejected, because the message was a duplicate (already exists in database).

Hi Ruud, can you provide an English example for that one? And what section it should go into (i.e., prefs).

What means “locale”? Something like “localized translation”?

In what situation is that shown?

In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

No locale available for language <strong>{name}</strong>. Using default locale instead….

Would this be the same as

Textpattern is not available in <strong>{language name}</strong>. Using default language instead.

??

No.

“Locale” is…

a set of parameters that defines the user’s language, region and any special variant preferences that the user wants to see in their user interface. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locale)

Textpattern uses the locale settings to render human-readable time readings.

PHP (and therefore Textpattern) itself does not know how to express time in a human-readable format but queries the server’s operating system it runs on. Operating systems usually know such things (see e.g. “International Settings” in Windows).

You can experience the effects of this setting by changing the language from “English (British)” to “Deutsch” and then visit the Preferences tab and look into the available options for Archive date format. You will notice that the available time representations change from a 12-hour AM/PM format like “05:33 PM” to a 24-hour format like “17:33”.

  1. User chooses a language.
  2. Textpattern tries to set the matching locale.
  3. The server’s operating system cannot switch to the desired locale (e.g., because the operating system was built without support for the desired language)
  4. BOOM!

comment_duplicate => “Duplicate comments are not accepted”.

Which sections are there? This string would be used on the public side when a visitor submits a duplicate comment and is shown the comment form again due to the fact that the comment message is a duplicate of an earlier submitted comment.

Ah, thanks, in that case it will be a public type string. I will add this in to the Textpacks tomorrow when I’m back at a computer.
