Yes that has been the case since Firefox 35.
Finally.

You can style that widget exactly the same way as you would for Safari/Webkit and Blink

For IE 11 + Edge add

select::-ms-expand { display: none; }

to hide the arrow (and style the same as WebKit / Blink ).
