Textpattern Meeting Oct 10 2015 > NC version
Saturday Oct 10 there is a Textpattern meeting happening in the UK. In an effort get more to the meeting, without trans Atlantic airfare, we are having a meeting near Raleigh, NC Saturday October 10.
Attending so far myself, hcgtv (Bert) and mistersugar. All other Textpattern users anywhere close are encouraged to join us. There is no specific agenda, but I hope we’ll discuss how we each use Textpattern, exchange ideas and help, and talk about Textpattern’s future. For part of the meeting we plan to be “live” with the UK meeting via Skype.

The NC meeting is having challenges. Storms hit NC in the last week. Bert is still cleaning up… and we are really having to clean up at the coast (we got a 4 1/2 ft surge & some flooding):
Soooo, we are wimping out re travel. But I did speak to Bert, and he and I will attend via Skype.
Thank you to Bloke for posting more about the UK meeting on Textpattern.com – and setting up Skype at that end so us kids on the other side of the pond can join in.

The thousand year flood event in South Carolina has left us in North Carolina doing cleanup duties, all the while knowing that climate change may of of hit us instead, we were lucky this time.
On to Plan B:
There is a way to make this entertaining, you will need two internet connected devices.
a) A laptop or tablet to run the Community Skype channel.
b) A laptop live streaming to Ustream.
We can view the stream and make calls in to the Skype machine.
Doesn’t have to be all meeting long, but we could attempt the hookup.

Southern France was hit really bad a few days ago with flash flooding. A months worth of rain in one night. All along the coast. Rivers swelled and broke, main streets became whitewater channels. Little European cars piled up like bamboo rafts. Several dead. Many more with gutted homes; possessions gone. Millions in property damage.
Climate change… it’s happening.

Just as an aside: I wish you well with your cleaning-up activities … both sides of the atlantic.

I’m in the middle of the state of North Carolina, and while we had grey skies for 2 weeks, we had mostly light rains. Sorry to hear my fellow NC-Txp had it worse. Perhaps we can coordinate a meetup somewhere in the state sooner or later.
