[forum] Plugin support

One for the forum suggestion box.

Changing the sub-forum label, “Plugin author support”, to simply “Plugin support”, wouldn’t hurt, because, it’s…

  1. always been a little vague, grammatically speaking.
  2. not just plugin devs that help people. Often they don’t, in fact, when falling off the world.
  3. clearly explained in the description now that anyone with the right insights can provide support.

So we can take the dubious specification out of the label an make it harmonious in every sense.

Re: [forum] Plugin support

I’ve never understood why there were two plugin areas – and Plugin Author Support always sounded to me like “Support for Plugin Authors.”

I guess I understand the reasoning — to make the support one more focused on existing plugins — but I agree the dispersion it causes in the forum isn’t worth any perceived benefit it provides. It’s one of those situations where two like forums could have been merged when the forum was redone, so something like this…

Plugin support and discussion

Help with existing plugins and ideas for new ones.

But, oh well. I’m happy with this label change.

Plugin Author Support always sounded to me like “Support for Plugin Authors.”

Exactly what I meant.

Re: [forum] Plugin support

Same logic applied to the “Theme author support” area, so I changed that one too.

Seriously, it’s never too late to economize for the sake of UX. Merging the respective plugin and theme sub-forums wouldn’t be a terrible idea. I’ll fix any such links in docs, so no issue there.

I would keep those two separate as it is easier to go to the “Support” area and find existing plugins. Many of the plugins discussed in the “Plugin discussion“forum were either never made or they were never released.
