Forum preferred threads

Isn’t there a way to bookmark forum’s threads?
The discussions about TXP are so interesting in the last days that I would like to bookmark some threads to find them easily in the future.
Any plugins for FluxBB to doing this?

Click or tap the Subscribe to this topic button, end of thread, left hand side. That makes the thread appear in your subscriptions.

It also sends you an email when someone posts in that thread

I was looking for a way to control my preferred threads to see if are there any new posts without opening every discussion manually with a browser bookmark (and maybe discover that no message was added from the last visit).

Thank you. I was trying to avoid to receive too many e-mails.
But I thinks it’s the best for now. Many thanks :)

You receive one email per thread, then the updates stop. When you visit that thread, the counter is reset to zero, and you receive one email, then the updates stop, until you visit that thread, then the counter is reset to zero and you receive one email, and so on.

I asked the same thing when I got involved with the PunBB forums, there was no solution then, there doesn’t appear to be one now.

Aside from subscribing to a post, there’s no way to track your preferred thread. Would be cool to mark posts and have them appear in your own personal forum, one can dream.

With that in mind, can you imagine the overhead for a forum where everybody has their preferred way of looking at the forum.

Have you tried the RSS feed links at the bottom of each thread? I personally haven’t, but now that I did for the first time, my newsreader opens up and I see a new entry with the topic’s title and a count of unread posts.

That is excellent! Never thought of doing that before. I just threw one into Thunderbird’s RSS reader and it works great. This is a game-changer for my forum use. Less inbox poop scooping.

One niggle, though. The way the meta titles are structured isn’t very useful, which seems to be:

Textpattern CMS Support Forum {thread subject label}

Causes a useless constant at start of RSS label…

The problem is evident when you drag the column to a more typical width…

Reversing the site identifier and thread subject label would be better for reader usability. Better yet, dropping the identifier from the meta tag altogether. It’s not like you need forum threads to rank high in Google or anything. More important would be all those blog posts .com is going to get.

Thanks… I somehow managed to not notice this until now.
