Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released

I will make upgrades post-haste. Thanks all. Thanks for the great blog post, Stef!

There’s no mention of the Markdown filter or the little semantic change on the images fields (title/caption? … I think it was like a record… six years after initial request, or whatever), but those are in there in core now?

Just curious. I’d like to start using those in collaborative sites.

Reason: they’re not in there yet.

4.5.7 is a patch release. Changing a tag or attribute’s functionality tends to go in more major releases. For reference, you are referring to r5739 (thread reference) right?

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released

My post seems to have been lost. Today I was able to change the language. Although the backend is now in English, the message is in German:

Diagnostics

Pre-flight check

Beim Versuch den RPC-Server zu erreichen, ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Bitte versuchen Sie es später noch einmal.

In two of the three sites I can’t access to Preferences > Language. The diagnostics report a problem with the access to the RPC-Server.

Is the languages tab visible? If so, what do you see when you click/tap it?

The language tab (button) is visible. Yesterday, when I clicked it, happened some minutes nothing, then came a message that access was not possible. Today I could access put the RPC-Server message is still the same, but not in English as is the backend.

I just updated 4 sites without a hitch. the fifth update reports these errors :

There is a problem trying to connect to the RPC server. Please, try again later.

The Diagnostics tab takes a long time to load and the Preferences > Language tab after a very long wait reports no languages are available …

Can’t connect to remote server to check for updated language files. Please try again later.

UPDATE: managed to load a language pack and now the Language Tab is working … the Dialogue about failing to connect with RPC still ongoing …

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released

Does anyone else have problem extracting the .tar.gz file?

I got:

$ tar -xvzf textpattern-4.5.7.tar.gz
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Xarchiver (a Linux archiver) couldn’t open it either.

Mmmm, now I tried again, this time decompressing the .gz first (gzip -d textpattern-4.5.7.tar.gz) and then extracting the .tar (tar -xvf textpattern-4.5.7.tar) and this time it worked. Likely an issue on my side.

What’s the md5 of your file, Julián? Mine here is 04fcfd6d5699537bf72aac48cc1139eb. I used tar -xvzf textpattern-4.5.7.tar.gz without any problems.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.7 released

gaekwad, to check the md5sum, I’ve had to download it again, because after decompressing it, I ended up only with the .tar file.
This is weird: the md5sum is fd174b6ebf8672771a2b6bdaf448d7d8, but this time I was able to tar -xvzf it flawlessly.
Not sure what is going on, as we are getting different md5sum for the file, but both of us were able to untar it… mmmmmm.
