Immediately expire an article from the Write tab
In the Write tab, there’s an option to reset the timestamp to a given time, or reset to ‘now’.
There’s an option to set an expiry of the article, too – but not to expire it ‘now’.
How viable is it to make this happen in core?

Can’t see any reason not to add it, besides taking up screen real estate. On a related topic, having a multi-edit option to ‘expire’ the selected articles might also be handy too.

If it were me I suppose I would just set the article to “hidden”.

Valid, but not really practical where a site has articles visible that are expired (events, competitions, etc) and the articles still need to appear.
