some rambling thoughts on setting up a site
So I don’t do web or design stuff anymore. Anyway I let my graphic design portfolio domains just lapse as well as my coding and development skills. I went back to college and have been studying animation and also Irish. For the summer now I’m going to hook up a new website for my animation and irish language stuff, basically a bilingual site with a lot of rich media. I have a pro account with at cargocollective.com and my plan was just to use that to get a nice looking site up in a hurry. But its so limited. I don’t really want to use wordpress, though, with plug ins and themes i could bang something together that would work. I love my old textpattern photoblog, been up for over seven years and never gave me any trouble, and I love the seo and bi-lingual power of txp and just the process of making a txp site. But I don’t have the skills to code a responsive javascripty site like I want and I’m too skint to hire someone to do that for me.
See these examples:
http://cargocollective.com/designs
http://cargocollective.com/kant
There’s not way I could write javascript like in the above examples.
Just ranting…

It’s one of the more popular ones. You should also check out Foundation and search the forum archives for other frameworks – there is plenty of prior chit-chat that you could sift through and figure out what works for you.
