Did Textgarden disappear? [no: DNS]

It’s not resolving for me right now. Traceroute and ping both fail. Any ideas?

Nameservers (*.textdrive.com) were not operating properly about 24 hours ago.

I suppose Jaques now operates those servers. I hope. If not, well then… we will never ask for your credit card number ;-)

Re: Did Textgarden disappear? [no: DNS]

I had a feeling it was related to DNS. 12 hours later, it’s still not appearing here:

$ dscacheutil -flushcache
$ ping textgarden.org
ping: cannot resolve textgarden.org: Unknown host
$ ping www.textgarden.org
ping: cannot resolve www.textgarden.org: Unknown host

…and from my web server shell:

]# ping textgarden.org
PING textgarden.org (37.153.96.164) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=1 ttl=241 time=85.7 ms
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=2 ttl=241 time=85.8 ms
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=3 ttl=241 time=85.7 ms
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=4 ttl=241 time=85.7 ms
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=5 ttl=241 time=85.7 ms
64 bytes from textpattern.com (37.153.96.164): icmp_seq=6 ttl=241 time=85.7 ms

Go figure.

Re: Did Textgarden disappear? [no: DNS]

It is most likely time for the community to acquire the various domains away from Dean and place them in something like the TextPattern Foundation.

The offer for the TextPattern community for DNS hosting on the Kaizen Garden DNS servers is still open.

Believe us, we’ve tried. Usually at least once a year, around the time of domain renewal when there’s the palpable excitement of will-we-or-won’t-we-be-on-air-tomorrow. Maybe this year will be The Year…

Any insider advice as to how that might be best approached, Jacques? Serious question.

Re: Did Textgarden disappear? [no: DNS]

DNS has been switched, but perhaps isn’t set up correctly:

$ dscacheutil -flushcache

$ ping textgarden.org
PING textgarden.org (54.235.159.97): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
