Farsi Version
Hi,
I am planning to use this CMS for a small website average 20-50 users in a day. Website managers and visitors are Farsi speaker, do we have Farsi translation of Textpattern? If yes, where I can find it?

Hi taranum – welcome to Textpattern. There isn’t a Farsi translation at the present time, but there is scope to have it added if you can translate some text strings if you’re familiar with git. If you are, and this is something you might be interested in, have a look at the Textpack repository – as a guide, there are currently about 1,200 language strings to translate.
Edit: I humbly stand corrected – there is a fa-ir language pack in the core of Textpattern.

We will translate these strings to Farsi if our team agree. We will start with English version for now.

That sounds like a great idea. We can definitely assist with the technical side of merging the translation into the core product.

Just to make sure you don’t have more work than necessary, taranum: Persian is not Farsi? I saw there’s the “Persian (پارسی)” entry on the admin language panel.

Actually, taranum, uli is right – there is Persian (fa-ir) already included in Textpattern.

The confusion is caused by the different terms, Farsi and Persian, not your fault.
Although the “fa” might imply that Farsi = Persian I’m not ultimately sure as there might exist different dialects (-ir). taranum, could you please bring some light into this discussion?

I did some work on Iranian Farsi language and RTL support in Textpattern 4.6 a few months back, so I’d strongly advise using a nightly build instead of Textpattern 4.5.
I believe Farsi is also spoken in a few other countries than Iran, hence the fa-ir language code. Persian is just what English speaking people call Farsi – it’s the same thing.
Please note that if you are intending to use a non-Iranian dialect of Farsi that you would need to create a new language file, using a different language code than fa-ir. You can use this file as a basis.

I still need to make more RTL improvements to 4.6 but it’s massively better than it used to be.

Farsi and Persian is same. A little difference in accent and some words. The scenario is similar to British English and American English.
The Persian=Farsi use Arabic script and needs RTL layout.
Waiting for version 4.6 to see the improvements Philwareham is working on.

You can use the nightly builds if you want, they are stable enough for production use.
Version 4.6 is not releasing in the near future.
