What kind of image + text listing format do you prefer?
Since I’m wearing “working on my own website” goggles on top of my “deep into code” goggles, I thought I’d ask if anybody has a preference for article list layouts:
Type 1: Screenshot
Type 2: Screenshot
Type 3: …?

Depends on content. For web design articles, I’d prefer the old-school type 2. Type 1 is ok too, but has lost a bit of its novelty and looks as a near future hasbeen.

Thanks, I think I know what you mean. After resting my eyes a bit, I think I prefer the less-monolithic feel of type 2, too.

Variations on your type 2 screenshot – that is: article title, article short content / blurb / intro + (eventually) a thumbnail of an image related to the article.
Type 1 is eventually appropriate for a visual arts gallery type of listing.
Where is that emoji for a solar powered submarine when you need it ?

You could also eventually try to alternate left/right image float, though it might look awful.
