Creating links from files... attachments etc

Maybe this has been asked before — in a different way… but here goes.

Like images (which use to have a feature to create Links on the fly…) the File management area of Textpattern no longer contains the ability to whip up a hot link or URL to the file – is this new in Textpattern 4.5X and if yes, why was it abandoned?

So why have a file upload area for Textpattern if there is no way of creating a quick hot link to the file?
As we know, there is a re-write feature that changes the actual place where the file is downloaded to something unique — and that is OK judging by how my old file attachments work.

Can someone suggest a plug-in if I need to go that route (and if I need to use a custom field – a quick explanation would be great of how that would work would be great. Thank you very kindly…)

Thanks everyone! I am a textpattern user from way back — Love the product.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but try to check ‘Show details’ at the bottom of the page (in the Files tab).

ACK! Yes – Thanks also to the hilarious and creative Stef Dawson (and for his AWESOME SMD plugins…)
for pointing this out.

Yikes – head slap
