[forum] subscription mail broken & change email address is confusing

Approximately since the changes of the forum I don’t receive more subscriptions emails. The email address works and has no spams in the spamfolder.

Today I tried to register, as an experiment, another email address. When I click “change email address”, then a new window is opened with two fields. One pre-filled with my username and the other with the password. I can’t see a field for the new email address. And, if I would replace de username with the address, where comes the username and which password is meant, this for the forum or that for the email (I don’t think so)?

I know, I could try what is the right way, but this default pre-filling seems to me illogical and confusing.

You’re right in what you describe (edit: I meant the user interface here), I just logged in with my newbie account. Moderators and probably also admins have another user interface on that spot, hence presumably the faulty behaviour.

Email subscriptions do work for me, BTW. But there’s my one account that’s still on strike with forum mail (a gmx.net address)

uli and guguser – it’s probably to do with a bug in FluxBB 1.5.5, fixed here

In fact a lot has been improved since the new forum went live – I’d put another version live now but I’m waiting for approval from Gocom to do that (I think he may be away somewhere at the moment).

The email subscription definitively doesn’t work for me. Today I replaced the one email address to another. But, the only email that I received was the notify with a link to activate the change. I did the activation and the new address is in my account, but I don’t receive emails related to subscribed posts.

Have you tried a different address, one that you can assume has the least strict spam policies?

ok, there is a misconfiguration on the forums mail server:

Jan 16 12:33:00 WHOCAREZ-SERVER postfix/smtpd[22905]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[37.153.96.164]: 554 5.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your reverse hostname, [37.153.96.164]; from=<forum@forum.textpattern.com> to=<kontakt@WHOCAREZ-SERVER> proto=ESMTP helo=<textpattern.localdomain>

you should change the helo-string from textpattern.localdomain to textpattern.com or whatever.

I wanted to register a different email address, but I saw that again the first stood there, not the one I had registered and confirmed yesterday.

Strange.

I’m trying it again now. But I have no spam filter turned on.

Why emails from the forum could be classified as spam?
