Secure Client Downloads

I have a client in TextPattern and my programming experience is limited to HTML/CSS and such front-end stuff. Can I add this type of functionality to the system: http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/client-downloads or am I looking at moving them to Expression Engine because of the user controls?

Re: Secure Client Downloads

padrelar, though I’ve had a look at the page you link to it’s not quite clear to me what you want to achieve.

Does that mean you’re not sure as what you’re planning is on the admin side? On the other hand, the EE plugin seems to be for the front side.

Re backend solution: TXP has probably everything on board you need.
Re frontend: there are some plugins you’d need to accomplish what you presage, cbe_frontauth, perhaps the file upload plugin sed_afu, perhaps smd_user_manager, perhaps you want to grant access only to paying users (yab_shop, maybe even smd_access_keys), neither of which I personally really used (which might be the crux ;).
We can help you much better when you describe what exactly you want to assemble.

In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

Re: Secure Client Downloads

The client needs to deliver documents privately and securely to their clients without ftp. They need an easy way to set up users by individual not role and have them available for download. Tracking the activity on the file though beneficial is not essential.

Expression Engine can handle it with the linked plugin as it has a very granular membership system. There is a plugin for Wordpress as well, but I do not do php so designing a bespoke site in WP is a no go. Currently they have Textpattern because it fit their needs at the time I built the site. Now requirements have shifted. I am comfortable with EE so that is no problem but I wanted to check about TXP because I have a couple of other things coming up with similar needs as well.
