Want to customize full textpattern

Hello Textpattern team !
i hope you all fine and doing well.
I’m researching different CMS and testing, after test i’m going to ask for the permission about :
can i use your CMS to customize everything that no one know which CMS i’m using, for example want to change all textpattern text, folder, etc.. to something like abcdef

i think your CMS is open source and want to know the policy, can i use that or not?

You can as txp is indeed open source but it is not recommended as

• you will need to work on the customizations every time you need to update
• updates might not work
• some plugins might not work

Hi johnseeng,

if it’s about customizing the backend for your clients there are a lot of admin themes on Textgarden or, with a little CSS knowledge, you can exchange the default graphics and Textpattern colors.

Should you want to anonymize everything for security reasons be warned, however, you’d not improve things but rather break them. Also, it’s not a simple search and replace process, there might be comments, dev names in public .js and .css files whereby a CMS can be identified with, there are also certain css classes used by plugins whereby any hacker can easily trace back the CMS used.
Updates would become a nightmare as you’d have to run the whole process again, and if you don’t update, security wholes found afterwards would open gateways to hackers.
