True. One way is to provide a link to the user’s profile in a report to the admins.

Thanks for your effort, but adding the user’s profile link to reports is not required. It’s just two clicks from any report, and the intruder is blasted.

A suggestion would be to allow moderators to delete posts from any forum. In this way, the spam posts will probably be deleted within minutes.

That’s a good solution.

I don’t know if the Akismet plugin is running here, but it works pretty good on my PunBB forums, with the mods I’ve made.

But wouldn’t it mean that we can’t delete spam posts? because if we do, how would you find the user? That’s why I’ve been using this (first report and point to the user, then delete the post):

One way is to provide a link to the user’s profile in a report to the admins.

If moderators can take care of spam, it wouldn’t all depend on your presence on the forum!

This is a good point as it will free the admins to work on more important issues, like the next txp release. We absolutely understand that it takes little time to delete spam and ban users but as our current admins all reside in Europe, there are windows for for spammers left open because of the time difference.

If we were permitted tomoderate all forums, and take care of this part of the project, a headache will be lifted.

Recently there is a trend in the forum to report the spam and then post in the thread that the “spam was reported”. This creates extra noise which is unnecessary. If this task was passed on to the moderators, this side effect will also be minimised.

So – given the current state of play – you’d prefer several reports to be made to Admins of each spam posting because none of know that someone else has already reported it?

If there was a Weird… smiley, I’d be clicking it about now.

I’m by no means in charge here but I would rather have multiple reports which are easy to zap – even by moderators.

The current trends leave traces like this which are irrelevant to the posts.

Re: punbb 1.3

OK, I’m reviving this ancient thread now I’m planning on upgrading the forum to fluxBB 1.5.x and finally making it responsive and a bit prettier.

I’ve got a version running on my local dev machine with a copy of the current database – runs OK but there are a few things to fix and change (and a theme to work on).

A lot of the core code mods that were done are not necessary now due to improvements in extensions it seems, but I’ll still need a good Textile hack – Stef are you able to help me out with that?

Also, that’ll mean you only get one choice of theme – no other themes will be included (not even the ones that ship with fluxBB).

Re: punbb 1.3

It won’t be mustard yellow. There is only minimal use of yellow in the new site designs.
