Can not reproduce and looking at the source, the code involving sanitization looks fine, which would be the most obvious Textpattern related cause for that.

I could bet its the server filtering and blocking the requests. Potentially a filtering module is looking for patterns that match URLs, and when hitting the threshold, block the requests. Anyone having these type of issue should query their server administrator for more information — and confirmation.
