mod_rewrite adding (fake) folder to URL

Ufortunatley I do not understand a lot about mod_rewrite. And searching the net did not bring me to a solution so far. Could anybody tell me what would be the best solution if I have a URL like that www.mydomain.com/contact and would wnat it to look like this www.mydomain.com/somekeywords/contact but the sections ect. still be as they were before.

That would be for SEO reasons… an other advantage of that would be for example: I have a germnan version of a site and want to add an english version. For that I just clone the whole site but the sections (and so are also the URLs) are still in german. Is there a way to have the appearing URLs in english but on th ebackend not touching the sections?

I hope I could explain myself a bit and hopefully you have some suggestions for me.
