there is a small display error on the top right of the page (ff16+). “… Textpattern” is partially covered by the #tips button. Looks OK in Safari and Opera

It looks OK in my Firefox 19.0.

Note to all authors on TXP Tips – hope you will get in touch to update your author biographies. You can check the bio I created for myself to have an idea.

Quick question about the smd_bio social links: wouldn’t it be better if the bio didn’t show non-existent links? Lots of 404’s now.

Well done, very clean. Like that #6dbdad hover color used – goes well with mustard (a challenging accomplishment).

Admittedly, this coming from a founding member of the Gentleman’s Anti Mustard Yellow League.

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

maratnugmanov, as far as I know txp:authors is intended to act like other tags, txp:category_list for example. txp:authors.

@Phil – yes I mispoke, Foundation does indeed support IE8. With the stats mentioned, IE8 usage would be around 2.5%.

@springworks/Els – thanks for letting me know about smd_bio issues! I installed the latest beta version late last night and failed to check…it should be fixed now..

@springworks – yes I do agree the cheap prescriptions looks spammy but I don’t think it can be changed – just checked TLA and the ad is live for another month and I don’t think it can be cancelled. I’ll look into this. Normally the ads are quite relevant to web design though.

@colak – I’ll check the “190 tips” span element again. Thanks.

@mrdale – I see what you mean. Maybe a link to home above “submit a tip”?

Authors – please send in your author bios if you can, and note that each author now has a login to the site.

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

At first sight: realy nice and clean site … a lot of whitespace but properly and beautifully applied … sharp, good readable fonts (Proxima, Futura) … and I’m very happy with the colors … ;-)

Two things to consider: 1) a little ‘smile’ at the top would be nice if not necessary… maybe some color to the Txp logo … or the original logo itself. Because now my attention goes directly to the logo of TXP Builders … ;-) … or my eyes went off to the little yellow button at the top right. 2) The width of the main column is a little to wide I think. I presume you’ve used the original Txp template. With the font-size of <p> there are to many words on a line … a readability issue much discussed on the internet.

Nice job Jonathan … and thank you for doing it.

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

Giovanni – that’s the idea. At the moment I’m using @txp:site_slogan> for that and it doesn’t allow links it seems. So I’ll construct something manually and link to TXP. Also wanted to add some other promo material similar to TXP.mag – should get in touch with Destry about that.

Joop – I do see what you mean about colour balance. I’ll look at that again. There’s many things still to do – just got Disqus working but all the comments are turned off so need to figure that out first. Thanks for your feedback!

I was thinking of a subnav listing the last 15 articles. If you’re scared about clutter, make it a select.

Then your site visitors don’t need to revisit the home page every time they just want to see what other articles are available and select from them.

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

I would go for related articles with a random sort. More democratic:)

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

I’d go for standard blog/news site behavior; ie, a nav somewhere with recent posts (sorted most to least recent), so you don’t have to click a hundred times to read the last five articles.

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4

Does anyone know of a plugin that allows a publisher to email all the other users?
