TXP Tips relaunched - v4
TXP Tips version 4 was launched today with a fresh brush of paint. The look has been updated and is designed to be fresher looking and fast loading.
Fans of the classic TXP colour #fc3
will be happy – the site features a nod to the past as we race forwards to the future.
Plugins used:
- zem_contact_reborn
- zem_contact_lang
- upm_textile
- glx_gravatar
- rah_textile_bar
- wet_quicklink
- wet_peex
- smd_where_used
- mem_article_count
- the_video (soon to be removed, not needed anymore)
- arc_twitter
- smd_bio
- etc_pagination
This update features authors more prominently, as one of the mistakes made on the old site was that author profiles were stored in custom fields. Now, authors reside in the TXP users table and we take advantage of a recent TXP change set that introduces author lists (see the “browse by author” select box).
Some refinements are still to be made, and please note that commenting will resume soon with the Disqus software. Currently waiting for the old comments to be imported.
I do hope that the TXP community will continue to offer their tips and tutorials for the benefit of us all. Please do keep the TXP Tips coming in.

Well done. Thanks for the site, and the tips. I’m a longtime Txp user who still needs all the help I can get.

I love simplicity and speed of it. Spotted tiny Ie8 and before related issues, but is there any sense to support them on such resource?

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4
I’m using Zurb Foundation as the framework for the site, and that does not support IE7 and IE8 out of the box. Stats are not high for either version. In total, IE account for 5% of site visits and out of that 5%, IE9 has a total of 63%, IE8 on 29% and IE7 on 1%.
I should also been clearer that the site runs on a nightly version of TXP in order to utilise the new txp:authors
tag in 4.6.0 dev.

Note to all authors on TXP Tips – hope you will get in touch to update your author biographies. You can check the bio I created for myself to have an idea.

Hi Jonathan. Good job! there is a small display error on the top right of the page (ff16+). “… Textpattern” is partially covered by the #tips button. Looks OK in Safari and Opera

Nice clean looking site… I’m jumping into foundation too.
You really need some kind of nav to recent content though, otherwise the visitor has to do the home page dance to browse articles. I also found the article link as header only a little non-obvious.
Nice resource to have tho.

Very nice site.
Zurb Foundation does support IE8 though, so I’d make that your minimum level of support (still plenty of IE8 users out there).

Re: TXP Tips relaunched - v4
I saw a couple of txp sites with author’s name linked to their profile. Is txp:authors
intended for automate this?
