Solborg Folkehøgskole
Here’s a site that we re-launched today, freshly revamped from top to bottom with the aid of the excellent Foundation framework.
As always with a new site there is still some things to do i.e create a new favicon, tweak for mobile etc etc. But its up and running.
Plugins, for those interested:
- zem_contact_lang
- zem_contact_reborn
- pap_contact_cleaner
- vdh_flickr
- adi_gps
- srh_file_icon
- rah_textile_bar

Very nice. The photos in the slider are amazing. Reminded me of my lifelong fascination with Norway.

Yep, a very nice site. Like Anton, the great photos brought back happy memories of multiple visits to Norway when I was a bit younger than I am now. On one trip, I lived aboard a very large vessel moored up in Stavanger harbour for a bit so the images are particularly evocative.
I have begun to use Zurb Foundation too and admire the way you have made it work for you here. It’s all very good.
I had a look at it via http://responsive.is/solborg.fhs.no and noticed that there is a typical Foundation glitch with the top navigation in the narrow PC screen / iPad landscape screen range. The space available isn’t enough for the two ULs and the second one drops out of the orange bar into the buff background where the white text is barely legible. Keeping the first one (Meny) hidden at these intermediate screen widths where it is isn’t required anyway would solve it probably.

Thanks Anton and Joe – yes the images are really good and Norway is beautiful. Its a small world – we lived in Stavanger for few years as my wife is Norwegian. We still have an apartment there.
I was aware of the glitch at lower screen ranges, but its hard to pin down a solution. Right now, I’m using <ul class="hide-for-large-up hide-for-landscape">
on the first UL which governs the small screen menu. Unfortunately, this stops the problem at iPad portrait but at iPad landscape its not working at all. Do you know the correct setting for this with Foundation? Will investigate more but any help would be appreciated.

Note for anyone else testing – there are always differences when using sites like Responsive is and a real tablet. Looks fine on the responsive site but not on the iPad itself for example.

Like the menu on iPad, is it a jQuery plugin or something you coded yourself?

Phil its the top-bar element from Foundation. Its a bit buggy and I found it quite difficult to get it right for iPad and iPhone ranges. Hopefully now its ok, just waiting for feedback from the client.

Re: Solborg Folkehøgskole
This site recently underwent a complete makeover, based on Foundation 5 in case anyone is interested.

Re: Solborg Folkehøgskole
Hi, Jonathan, an accidental find (I’ve not been everywhere as use.typekit.net is down and slows loading times enormously):
/personalet is displayed without styles in FF 40.0.3 and Chromium 39, with styles but only with a distorted logo in SAF 6.

Re: Solborg Folkehøgskole
I’ve visited the page in FF secure mode (all plugins off), and had Little Snitch (an additional firewall) turned off cause this experience was embarrassing enough. But from FF’s icons and messages in the address bar, it might have to do with https/certificates: Firefox reports (re-translated from German) …
This page supplies no identity data.
… and …
Firefox is is blocking contents from this page.
Yet, in case it’s me again I’ll never again report on broken fonts or similar. Promise!
