Re: Markdown as an option for 4.5? Make it pluggable perhaps!
Textfilters look like a good idea :)

+1! I was very pleased to see the this changeset arrive.

What do the two Markdown links under “Textfilter help” go to? (I haven’t installed the plugin.)
And with the inclusion of filters, will the existing Textile help in the top-left column be reduced? I’d like to think it will be simplified. Maybe something nice and clean like this:
Textfilter help
And the Textile link will go to Steve’s new Textile site? Please.
(NB : I haven’t yet installed 4.5.1, so don’t know what’s there.)

I love Textile, but it’s a very nice addition for end users to be able to choose their own preferred markup language.

Markdown: Basics
Markdown: Syntax
Wouldn’t it be better if these links opened in new tabs, like the ‘More’ link for Textile? (Which BTW still goes – via textpattern.com/textile-sandbox – to thresholdstate…)
Maybe something nice and clean like this:
Textfilter help
I quite like the Textile help as it is now, it would be nice if there could be the same basic instructions for Markdown. Don’t know if this (see screenshot below) will be a very likely setup, but for this situation Destry’s suggestion might be a better option ;)

A sample Markdown plugin is available at my Github repo: wet_textfilter_markdown.
I just stumbled upon your plugin while doing a random search on github. I’ve been looking for a solution for a long time to use Markdown in TXP. Question, is the plugin you have using barebones Markdown or Markdown Extra?
Great job!

It currently uses plain Markdown.

I might fork this and try and add Extra to it if you don’t mind.

Of course I don’t mind but rather jump for joy ;) Pull requests are welcome!

You have a pull request for Markdown Extra :-)
By the way – I am not sure what the benefit would be from having two Markdown plugins, as Markdown Extra falls back to Markdown if needed. Having two flavors of Markdown could be irritating, so perhaps Extra should be the way to go?
Oh, and for the record (if someone less tech-savvy reads this), Markdown only works with Textpattern 4.6 (development branch). Just wasted minutes of my life avoiding documentation and trying the plugin in 4.5.4…

Well you beat me to it! Extra has some nice block formatting that is missing from vanilla Markdown.
Any idea when 4.6 will drop to the masses?
