[SOLVED] (Noob) question about sections that just dont show up

Hello all,

Recently I started using textpattern and all went quite well. I uploaded the files to my ftp and created the database, followed all steps in the setup and now I can post things on my (very default) site.

But when I create sections, the buttons appear on the default page but they just lead to dead links. What am I doing wrong? I searched a couple of tutorials and also the manuals from this site, but I cannot find the right answer. Maybe I am asking the wrong question, but I can only describe the issue I am having.

So when I go to my site daanvdberg.nl it all seems well, but when something links to the section I (tried) to create like www.daanvdberg.n/contact it just seems broken!

I dont seem to be missing anything, or at least I have no idea what I should miss. The only issue I can find is when I logon and open my diagnostics, it reads “Clean URL test failed.” Might this and the issue with the broken links be related?

Please help, if anyone has an idea what to do I would be really glad to try it.

Thanks for reading,

Re: [SOLVED] (Noob) question about sections that just dont show up

Hi Daan, welkom bij Textpattern :) Clean URLs don’t work at your site, but messy ones do: http://daanvdberg.nl/index.php?s=articles. Check if you uploaded .htaccess, it’s often invisible in ftp clients.
If that’s not the problem, you can switch to messy URLs in Admin > Preferences. (But I think uploading .htaccess will solve the problem.)

Oh great! The .htaccess file did the trick!

Thank you very much!
