Demo on opensourcecms.com

…is still running 4.4.1. Don’t we want to flaunt our lovely new front and back end designs?

Re: Demo on opensourcecms.com

I just used their contact form and sent this:

Hi there.

I noticed your demo of Textpattern is out of date:

http://www.opensourcecms.com/scripts/details.php?scriptid=86&name=Textpattern

The current version at the time of writing is 4.5.2. A previous version of Textpattern (4.5.0) released after the version you are demoing (4.4.1) implemented a number of important security and usability fixes, outlined here:

http://textpattern.com/weblog/369/textpattern-cms-450-released-a-hive-of-activity

Upgrading Textpattern 4.4.1 to 4.5.2 is a cinch, and the process is outlined here:

http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrading_to_a_New_Version

Please advise if you would like assistance with the upgrade process, I am happy to help.

Best wishes,
Pete

Great! I assumed it had to be done by one of the devs, that’s why I didn’t think of it… ;)

Re: Demo on opensourcecms.com

I still assume it will have to be done by one of the devs: I made them opensourcecms.com aware of the situation in September …

Re: Demo on opensourcecms.com

This does beg the question — is there scope for a demo hosted by a Textpattern network member site instead of a catch-all comparison site?

Re: Demo on opensourcecms.com

Bumping this – no reply/acknowledgement of my email, and they’re still running 4.4.1 (complete with known vulnerabilities, too). At what point does this become a concern?

I will reiterate my question from my previous post — is there scope for a demo on Textpattern.com or member site? I’ll happily be involved in the planning and setup if need be.

Re: Demo on opensourcecms.com

CMSmatrix is another external site misrepresenting the truth, showing two entries:

  • Textpattern, v 4.0.4 revised 2007
  • Textpattern CMS, v. 4.2.0 revised 2009

This site in particular, in my opinion, became useless a few years ago when the system count when from 100 to a gazillion. Nobody is going to keep that site up to date. It’s just there to rake in whatever ad pennies it can.
