Will Textpattern work for me?

Hi all,

I am wondering if I should install this on my server.

I want to start a photo blog where users can register and then login to upload and share pictures (front end, not back end like wordpress). I want them to be able to write comments about the pictures and also to be able to share the the picture link via social media if possible.

Would Textpattern work

The plugins cbe_frontauth and mem_self_register would handle the aspects of membership but ‘front-end’ submission of image(s) would require some additional layer I am not aware of but some script could be whipped up I’m sure . You could certainly accommodate your users from the back-end very easily in the image handling part of you application and it should be added that the back-end can be skinned to make it plain to your users what the tasks are without distracting them with a big bulky plethora of CMS controls.

You could consider modeling separately for two UIs:

1. Viewing, conversation, and interaction on the front-end
2. Image management on the back-end

Hiya, I am very new to this so was hoping for a CMS system which would easily be able to incorporate the functions I mentioned, I am not a coder and have very basic HTML and PHP knowledge, was hoping I could get some plugins to do the jobs. Can you recommend any other software which may handle this better?

lam_image_uploader doesn’t completly solve your problem. I don’t know of a plugin that provides image uploads from the front end.

There used to be a “reserved” plugin for this, that you can request here.

I’m not actually using it. Security reasons behind that secreteness, if I remember.

how does the “mem_moderation_image” plugin differ and why would the “lam_image_uploader” not completely work?

lam_image_uploader (and bot_image_upload, to name another) works on the back-end. You have to let people create an account and then login and go to the write tab in the backend in order to load the images. Both mem_moderation_image and sed_afu work on the frontend. It’s a matter of what you want your workflow to be. The frontend ones could be more difficult to setup.
