Ajax request for textile preview

How work the textile preview in write tab (or comment preview) ?

- It uses textile.php, stores the result in a cache? in the database? and displays the result?

Is it possible to use this preview function through an Ajax request?
For a live preview of a textarea (for write tab or from the front).

In the “write” tab you’ve got it (tab/icon depending of your TXP version and named “Preview” or “Textile preview”).

@sacripant: Yes, the preview can be implemented synchronously with the help of Ajax. Robert hinted to this a bit in this G+ thread. This is why I was playing around with a double pane concept. ;)
