Re: 2012 Critic's Choice CMS Awards
If you’re a web designer providing Textpattern websites, and your clients like using it, make them vote too! They are part of the user community!

ATTENTION
If you’ve already voted, there’s a good chance your vote was canceled and you need to do it again. They changed the vote format and nullified the votes that were already there. Please go revote by “liking” Textpattern.
And tell your neighbors!

Re: 2012 Critic's Choice CMS Awards
Oh, man. It’s switched to some damn measurement tool that requires a socmed sign-in. That pretty much killed it for Textpattern. NOT HAPPY!
I’ll still do it, but I know most people won’t now. It’s just too much interference.
Mike,
A lot of people in open source don’t use social media, or are extremely annoyed having to give some third party tool their login details. Everyone knows they’re harvested at that point. What a bummer, that’s all I can say.
Oh well, Textpattern is doing fine without the potential of this award. Anybody who doesn’t see it is blind or not looking.
EDIT: Wait, do you need to sign in? I’m confused. I keep getting a Listly login screen with social channel options.

Me too. I notice that when I cast my vote earlier, CMS Made Simple was romping ahead and Textpattern was second. The others were hardly in the running.
Now it’s Liferay in front and the others hardly even registering. Do we surmise from this that people using Liferay are socmed animals and/or are more happy to pass their details to any bugger that asks? :-)

Re: 2012 Critic's Choice CMS Awards
Yeah, I saw a count of 32 on Textpattern before the change, and there may have been a few more on that in the gap between. That would put us at second currently. But nobody is going to screw with that now.
And why are new CMSs suddenly appearing in that category? I mean, why weren’t they there to begin with?
I’d never heard of Liferay, but with a tagline like “enterprise open source portal and collaboration software”, it’s probably popular with the white collars, and thus, yes, lots of avid socmed-ers.
Oh well.

Re: 2012 Critic's Choice CMS Awards
Oh what?! When I first voted Txp had 37 votes, now 8… And please be careful: don’t accidentally doubleclick the thumbs up, because on the second click the count goes down :(

Ha ha, voting twice Els! Just voted, and yes, having to login via Google or whatever is a pain but can understand to prevent false votes.

Sure, no blame for trying to ensure fair voting. But there’s definitely a barrier now (for this community, anyway), having to jump through the social media hoop, and that will impact the counts. Is impacting the votes.
My real problem isn’t with using Google+ or Twitter or whatever other account I already have, but having to use Listly to use them. It’s basically giving yet another third-party tool access to my information for this one-time thing.
Oh, and I clicked the crap out of the ‘thumbs up’ button at first because I didn’t know what the heck I was supposed to to. I probably dropped it five votes before adding one back. ;)

Re: 2012 Critic's Choice CMS Awards
You can revoke access for Listy from your Twitter account app settings – I’ve done just that. I found some other apps I’d forgot about giving access to as well (LinkedIn?! – deleted my account years ago) so it’s a good thing to do from time to time.
If that means my vote isn’t counted, then I’m not too bothered – looks like Liferay people have spammed all the lists anyway. Textpattern is never going to win in a raw popularity poll, and it doesn’t need to.
