Use Oracle DB instead

Hello All,

I am wondering if someone has tried to use an Oracle DB instead of MySQL?

Any experience with the files which I would need to check (for sure txplib_db.php).

Thank you very much!

Re: Use Oracle DB instead

txp is an open source project using open source technologies (php/mysqi). As such. I do not think that there are any plans to support Oracle in the near future.

Re: Use Oracle DB instead

Hello Yiannis,

thanks a lot for your quick replay. I fully understand that from Textpattern team I don’t get support. It was my hope to come in contact with someone who has tried this Oracle integration perhaps already and is willing to share the experience with me. I quickly checked the key database sections and i have the impression that such a connection to Oracle seams to be achievable.

I am fully aware of the fact that any version upgrade from TextPattern might stop my running (Oracle) environment (if I upgrade some day).

Kr, Volker

Re: Use Oracle DB instead

One thing to keep in mind is that we use MySQL’s full text capabilities for Textpattern’s built-in search and (very few) MySQL-specific SQL fuctions like FIELD.
