[textile] How to expand Textile ?

Hi,

I got drawn to research Textpattern because of Textile support. I seek to amend, extend its markup.

Can I

1) modify surround character, _* for _ for instance ?

2) simplify tag syntax, for instance define my own tag syntax _Tip could produce a tag to surround the next paragraph with a box, include a tip icon

In short how practical is to play with the Textile parser ?

Take a look at ./textpattern/lib/classTextile.php, that’s all I can say.

Installed WAMP Textpattern, use it as my Textile Editor …
- I tried Drupal 7 — MarkitUp module
  - yet to succeed …
- No luck with emacs
  - possibly vim going the ruby – RedCloth route …

For straight out-of-the-box Textile go for Textpattern !
