Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.1 released

Just updated 2 sites without any apparent problems.

Thanks!!!!

As I previously mentioned I find the border in images and in extensions too narrow in the remora theme.

here’s a screenshot of spf_js in the extensions tab

Everything is pushed to the right and a horizontal bar appears

Contact the plugin author and ask about changing the markup slightly to fit in with 4.5’s style guide. It won’t be a major job; probably just adding the new wrapper div/class names will bring it into line with the others: Simon can use the Styles panel as a template.

Ok

I have updated 7 sites in about 2 hours whilst doing other duties. Very smooth process. ( i have very minimal plugins on them)

no problems encountered except for having to activitate json on 3 domains out of 7 (hosted on Joyent).
Thanks to the Textpattern Team. Job well done!

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.1 released

My question: there is a full set of files in sites/site1 instead of symlinks.

a) is it so by design?

b) why do I need site1/public/admin/… AND site1/admin ? I mean I know it’s here because of two different ways one can install multisite administration background, but there is no hint in README.txt to remove the unnecessary files (mind the gap of DOUBLE setup dirs…)

I can see there are some changes in the multisite setup, but is it mentioned in the docs?

BTW there are some files with rwx permissions (eg. hive.php in hive theme and indicator.gif there in img subdir).

Yours

Adam

EDIT: there are three (!) full sets of admin themes in site1, incl. 3xgraphics files…

/admin/theme, public/theme and public/admin/theme

EDIT 2: installing a new site in the multisite env. is broken, when you try to use public/setup ar public/admin/setup. problem with an absolute path I suppose.

BTW why not to add an option during setup “is it a multisite setup?”, which would add “define(‘txpath’, $txpcfg[‘txpath’]);” to the generated config.php AND ask the user to save the file in the right location?

A.

/public/theme and /public/admin/theme are just symlinks to /admin/theme/.

Definitely, there is room for improvement in the way files & folders (& symlinks) are organized on the multi-site setup. I’ve a draft in my computer that I’ll publish soon related to my findings on tinkering with multi-site setups.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.1 released

During setup there is “Creating database tables” page, where

1) there is no clean transition from the text

“Creating database tables”

to

“Name & surname”

No introduction text to the process of creating new user (OR it was removed in translation, I use setup in Polish language version, incomplete BTW, I can help).

2) wrong tab stops: tab jumps from Name to help icon instead of “login name” field

A.

P.S. the problem with tabstops is omnipresent, eg. in filling the fields in the site properties.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.5.1 released

I used .zip version unpacked on linux, I got files instead of links (4.4.1 had links).

What do you mean by “clean transition”?

“Now please provide Textpattern with the data about admin user. You will be able to change password and personal data at any time, but the username is unchangeable from now on. This user will have the “Editor” privileges. We advise you to read more about the sophisticated user levels and privileges in the textpattern docs” etc. etc ;)

I can confirm that the .zip version of 4.5.1 has “real” files instead of symlinks on the different folders at /sites/site1/.
That would explain why the .zip file is larger than usual (I don’t have the .zip file for 4.5.0, but the .zip file for 4.4.1 is 484.4kb).

The .tar.gz file for 4.5.1 has proper symlinks.
