Cannot save or create new Style

I have 4.5 installed. Everything looks fine. Diagnostics = All checks passed! But cannot save, copy or create style. Page, forms etc all good. Green save banner appears in confirmation foot but not in Styles it just defaults to site 404 error page. I have done all the obvious stuff like reinstallation. It’s on a server that I have many other sites with txp on but not this latest version, this is the first time I’ve used this version 4.5.

Can anybody assist me please.

Can you please add this lines to the .htaccess file residing in your site root:

ErrorDocument 403 "TXP: Access not allowed" 
ErrorDocument 500 "TXP: Script crashed"

Then try to save a page once more and report back with the results.

Thank you very much. Do you know why I had to do that? Was it particular to my hosting environment. Having asked that I set this up on a local Mamp server.

The .htaccess file looks like this now:

I think wet asked you to add those lines on htaccess (online and not on mamp) to try to figure out where the problem could come from.

This symptom usually stems from security measures at your web host, ranging from simple password-protected directories to mod_security filters.

It goes like this:

  1. You post a new style/page/…
  2. The security measure kicks in and produces a response with an error code like 403 (Access denied) or 500 (Internal server error)
  3. The HTTP server wants to render its default error page, e.g. /error_500.html
  4. There is no such file at your web root
  5. Textpattern is run to render the requested url “/error_500.html” and cannot find any content for it either, proceeds with its own 404 page
