I miss the Tags column in the page of images (4.5)

Hello.

I see that in 4.5 beta, in the page Content > Images, has disappeared the column “Tags”. I find it very useful and, actually, I use it every time I want to insert an image in the article in order to build the tag. Perhaps it is easy to write the tag for an image in Textpattern mode, but I prefer to use the version XHTML of the tag, and it isn’t quite comfortable to write by yourself something as: <img src="http://blog.pompilos.org/images/96.jpg" width="500px" height="400px" alt="Lampadaire et sculpture en bronze doré du pont Alexandre III (Paris)" />. In addition, you usually don’t know the exact dimensions of the image.

Can developers reconsider the decision of removing that column, please? Or the users argue for its continuity? Thanks.

Hmm… I’ve just noticed this too and yes, it’s something I miss too – it was hard enough to add images into the body of your content already without having the tags taken away…

…but, have you clicked on the show detail checkbox?

Wow, it is magic! Thanks, douglgm for your help.

And well… I think that someone responsible for usability should improve the visibility and function of this checkbox. Some suggestions: What if the checkbox “Show details” is integrated in the top grey bar to the right of the word “Name”? This way it would be visible, it would invite to be clicked and so, it would show its function. Another suggestion: It can be only a link, without a checkbox, and toogle when clicked: “Show details/Hide details”.

I agree that the show details function disappears in the bottom of the page, especially if someone has 50 or even 100 images showing /page.

I would think that the top of the page would make more sense.

In one other thread, which I can’t find right now, it was suggested to put it twice: once right before the table, and once right after the table (such a it is now); idem ditto for the multi-edit widget, iirc.

Yeah, the ‘show details’ toggle position is something we need to revisit again in v4.6. The general consensus was a ‘no’ on the double use of the multi-edit widget though.

Also, we are looking into integrating the images/files better into the write page as part of v4.6.

Re: I miss the Tags column in the page of images (4.5)

My own personal opinion (and I know this is all subjective and everyone has a different point of view), I feel the “With Selected”, “Show Details” and “View x per page” widgets look a little lost down there at the bottom of the page.

Before I deliver a Textpattern site for a customer I’ll usually log in as them and tick things like show details…

That sounds very familiar. Are you sure she is not related to my wife:)
